The Wasena Skatepark, located at 1001 Winchester Avenue SW inside Wasena Park in Roanoke, Virginia, is a premier 24,000-square-foot action sports facility. The modern complex officially celebrated its grand opening in March 2026, completely replacing an aging, outdated ramp setup that had previously sat nearby under the Wasena Bridge. The project came to fruition after more than a decade of community advocacy led by local riders and the grassroots Roanoke Skatepark Initiative. Supported by a regional municipal coalition consisting of the City of Roanoke, the City of Salem, and the Town of Vinton, alongside substantial private donations, the park represents a $1.6 million investment into the region’s outdoor sports infrastructure.
Based heavily on local community feedback, the concrete plaza emphasizes street-style skating elements. The expansive layout features a versatile progression of obstacles including stamped concrete ledges, a variety of flatbars and handrails, manual pads, stair sets, pyramids, and bank-to-wallride features. These technical architectural replicas are arranged to provide natural flow lines for beginners and advanced riders alike across skateboards, inline skates, and BMX bikes.
