Vila Praia de Âncora skatepark

Vila Praia de Âncora Skatepark is a 700 m² concrete park right on the Atlantic waterfront, with the sea and Forte da Lagarteira just a few metres away. The park combines a flowing street section with a bowl, creating a good mix of technical street obstacles and transition.

The skatepark was designed and built by Wasteland Skateparks and opened on 18 December 2021. The project was commissioned by the Municipality of Caminha as the first skatepark in the municipality, with an investment of more than €140,000, co-financed through Norte 2020 and FEDER.

Built entirely from reinforced concrete in situ, the park contains seven main obstacles/ramp elements and was designed to accommodate up to 25 users simultaneously. Wasteland's design takes inspiration from the local maritime environment, with the bowl influenced by Californian swimming pools and the waves of the Atlantic, while the street section incorporates walls, ledges, rails and other urban elements.

The location is what really makes Vila Praia de Âncora special. Skate with the ocean as your backdrop, with the beach, fishing harbour and Forte da Lagarteira immediately around you. It is one of those parks where the setting is almost as impressive as the skatepark itself.
