The Vans Skatepark in São Paulo, Brazil, opened in June 2018 and quickly became a major destination for skateboarders in the city. It was built in partnership with California Skateparks and the local São Paulo government, designed to meet the official standards of the Vans Park Series (VPS). This makes it the first skatepark in South America to be certified by VPS for park terrain, and only the second in the world at the time. Located in Parque Cândido Portinari, the skatepark covers 830 square meters and includes a deep bowl with a 2.9-meter drop, as well as street obstacles.
The skatepark was funded by Vans as part of their global initiative to promote skateboarding by providing top-tier facilities that are accessible to the public. The park is free and open to skaters of all levels, contributing to the development of park-style skateboarding in Brazil. Since its opening, it has hosted several major events, including the Vans Park Series, which showcases some of the best skateboarders in the world.
Vans Skatepark São Paulo's design emphasizes versatility, with features suited to both beginners and experienced riders. The park integrates elements typical of Olympic-style skateboarding, blending street and park obstacles to create a dynamic and challenging environment.
In addition to the skate elements, the park is well-located near public transport, making it easily accessible, and has been praised for being a public space that helps foster the local skateboarding culture.
