ABOUT SKATEPARK

Thuringia skatepark

The Thuringia Funpark, located at Industriestraße 10 in 99974 Mühlhausen/Thüringen, Germany, is a massive indoor freestyle sports center recognized as Germany's largest indoor skatepark. Encompassing a staggering total area of 4,500 square meters across three connected industrial halls, the park has a rich historical legacy dating back to its original founding in 1999 by the local youth association "XXL! - Das Jugendprojekt e.V." Designed to serve as both a youth meeting ground and a regional sports attraction, the facility has adapted through structural setbacks over the years, including a major past fire where quick action by the fire department saved the main hall, leading to massive community efforts to completely rebuild the internal layouts.

The park's layout is internationally famous for its wood-surfaced construction, which features specialized beechwood sheets covering the obstacles to provide exceptionally smooth and uniform riding conditions. It is heavily defined by its massive transition architecture, housing an iconic indoor vertical halfpipe that stands as one of the largest in Europe, measuring an impressive 4.15 meters in rideable height and 12.30 meters in width. Beyond the massive vert structures, the facility contains expansive street courses, modern mini-ramp structures, a dedicated foam pit area for learning high-impact aerial tricks, and a wide, covered outdoor area. Renowned ramp-building and action sports park specialists Schneestern were heavily contracted to design and construct major internal overhauls, bringing advanced, modern layouts to the technical park and street zones.

As a managed indoor facility, the park operates on a paid admission system with very affordable daily entry rates—typically around five euros—along with multi-session discount options and free safety gear rentals on-site. The facility features a broad multi-disciplinary approach, offering specifically structured, rolling weekly schedules that welcome skateboarders, inline skaters, freestyle BMX riders, and stunt scooter enthusiasts. Because it is fully indoors and includes a climate-shielded spectating space alongside a snack kiosk, it functions as a critical year-round, weatherproof riding hub for the German action sports scene.
