Stockwell Skatepark, also known as Brixton Beach or Brixton Bowls, is one of London's oldest and most iconic skateparks. The concrete park has a distinctive flowing layout of organic bumps, dips, banks and transitions rather than a conventional street-plaza design. The original long snake run remains one of its defining features, alongside bowls, hips, quarters, flatbanks and newer street elements. The park is free to use and open 24 hours a day.
Stockwell was built in 1978 by legendary British skatepark builder Lorne Edwards, making it one of the oldest surviving purpose-built skateparks in the world. It has been resurfaced and modified several times, including major work in 2007–08. In 2022, Betongpark carried out a £500,000 refurbishment, retaining much of the historic layout while resurfacing large sections, improving the flow and adding new features. The refurbishment was completed in July 2022.
After skating, you can explore the colourful streets, markets and cafés of Brixton, or head to Brockwell Park for its gardens, views and famous lido.
