225 33rd Avenue N, St Cloud, Minnesota 56303, United States of America
St. Cloud’s new Heritage Skate Plaza, located within Heritage Park on 33rd Avenue, sits just next to the newly built Costco. Scheduled for completion in 2020, the new skatepark replaces the original facility, which was located just 350 feet away on the same site. The former skatepark was demolished to make way for the new retail development.
Funding for the new skate plaza was made possible through proceeds from the sale of land to Costco, along with a portion of local sales tax revenues. The original skatepark, built in 2010, carried a strong legacy, made possible by a community-driven fundraising campaign that reflected the deep passion and involvement of local skaters and residents. In December 2018, the City of St. Cloud officially approved the new skatepark design, created by Stantec in collaboration with New Line Skateparks. The construction phase was opened to bids from local Minnesota general contractors, with SPA Skateparks joining the selected team as the specialty shotcrete subcontractor.
SPA Skateparks' role included the work of ACI Certified Shotcrete Nozzlemen and experienced skatepark shapers, ensuring the concrete structures were crafted with the precision and quality that high-performance skateparks demand. The result is a new chapter in St. Cloud’s skateboarding history—one that honors the past while delivering a modern space for the next generation of riders.
