Southsea Skatepark, located in Southsea, Portsmouth, UK, is renowned as one of the world's oldest operating skateparks. Its origins trace back to the 1930s when a roller skating rink was established around a central bandstand built in 1928. The venue transitioned into a dedicated skatepark in 1978, coinciding with the rise of skateboarding culture in the UK.
Over the decades, Southsea Skatepark has hosted numerous notable events and welcomed legendary figures from various action sports disciplines. The park's diverse facilities cater to a wide range of activities, including skateboarding, BMX riding, rollerblading, and scootering. Managed by a charitable organization since 2011, all proceeds are reinvested into maintaining and enhancing the park.
For those interested in visiting or learning more, Southsea Skatepark is open year-round, offering sessions for all skill levels. Equipment hire, including helmets, skates, skateboards, and scooters, is available on-site. The park also features a café serving hot and cold refreshments.
Great skatepark, all outdoor and no skating allowed in the rain. Lots of different ramps ranging from 1' to 15', including wooden half pipes and various concrete snake runs and bowls. Ideal for BMXs, scooters & skateboards, plenty of room for everyone. There's a charge to use it for 2-3 hours, helpful members of staff run the shop and provide 1st aid if needed.
