Southbend skatepark

The Southbend Skatepark, located within Southbend Park in downtown LaGrange, Georgia, is a 10,000-square-foot facility that serves as a cornerstone of the city’s urban revitalization efforts. This project was designed by New Line Skateparks and built by SPA Skateparks in 2019. It was conceived as part of a larger community initiative to transform the south side of downtown into a premier recreation destination, providing a world-class concrete landscape for the West Georgia action sports community.

The design is a technical "flow-plaza" that emphasizes high-speed lines and modern street geometry. It features a versatile flow bowl with varied depths and rhythmic hips, which feeds directly into an expansive street section. The plaza is heavily influenced by contemporary urban architecture, offering precision-engineered granite-capped hubba ledges, flat rails, a "big-three" stair set, and a signature "bump-to-bar" feature. The layout is strategically designed to be "all-wheel friendly," providing enough spacing and transition variety to accommodate skateboarders, BMX riders, and scooter enthusiasts of all skill levels.

As the specialized build partner, SPA Skateparks applied their expertise in high-durability concrete and hand-troweled finishes to ensure the park remains fast and smooth under the intense Georgia sun. The construction features heavy-duty steel edging on all grinding surfaces and a layout that accounts for the site's natural drainage and topography. The park is integrated into the broader Southbend Park master plan, which includes a dog park, a massive playground, and a splash pad, making it a central social hub for families. Today, Southbend Skatepark is celebrated as one of the finest facilities in the Southeastern United States, recognized for its exceptional build quality and its role in the vibrant culture of downtown LaGrange.
