ABOUT SKATEPARK

South Park skatepark

Located roughly 15 miles south of downtown Pittsburgh, the South Park Skatepark is situated within the massive, 2,013-acre Allegheny County South Park. Spanning the border of South Park Township and Bethel Park, this outdoor, public concrete park is a staple for local riders and transition skaters in Western Pennsylvania. The South Park Action Park officially opened on December 27, 2007. It was designed and built by Grindline Skateparks.

South Park is primarily a transition-heavy park, but it features a diverse layout that offers something for everyone. There is a massive concrete bowl section featuring multiple depths. It includes advanced features like a cradle and a spine, allowing for excellent flow and speed. However, local riders note the tranny can feel a bit tight in specific corners. There is also a shallower, tight pocket-style bowl, vert and street section.

The park is strictly a daytime spot. There are no floodlights for night sessions, so plan to wrap up by dusk.

Looking for a deep bowl session or a rare public vert ramp in the Pittsburgh area will find South Park well worth the session!
