Arinaga Skatepark is a large modern concrete skatepark located in the Parque Urbano de Arinaga in Agüimes, Gran Canaria. Designed by architect Daniel Yábar and constructed by Cooping Ramps, the facility was completed and opened in 2024. With more than 3,000 m² of total site area and over 2,000 m² of skating surface, it is one of the largest skateparks in the Canary Islands.
The project replaced an older skatepark that had deteriorated over time. Local skaters played an important role in the development of the new facility, participating in workshops and providing ideas and feedback during the design process. The skatepark is divided into three interconnected zones: a street-oriented skateplaza, a bowl and a flow park. The skateplaza features urban-style obstacles including curbs, rails, stairs and benches, while the bowl incorporates different heights and depths for more transition-focused riding. The flow section uses lower curves and transitions to create continuous lines with a surf-like feel.
The three areas are connected by transition ramps, allowing riders to move between different sections and create multiple lines. The layout was designed to accommodate up to 25 users simultaneously and includes spectator seating for demonstrations and competitions. Arinaga Skatepark opened in September 2024 and has become a major new facility for Gran Canaria's skateboarding community, offering a combination of street, bowl and flow terrain in a single park.
