Completed in the autumn of 2017, the indoor skatepark in Oostende stands as a striking example of style, atmosphere, and high-efficiency timber engineering. The project originated when the Municipality of Oostende, deeply inspired by the layout and cultural success of Nine Yards’ flagship Pier 15 campus in Breda, sought an experienced construction partner to bring their conceptual vision to life. Equipped with a ready-made layout but requiring a specialist to execute it, the local township commissioned Nine Yards to handle the precision interior build.
Utilizing extensive expertise in developing comprehensive indoor sports facilities, the construction team successfully translated the drawings into a bright, highly functional action sports arena. The design relies on a clever, balanced marriage of raw materials—blending smooth poured concrete, premium structural timber, and heavy-duty galvanized steel.
The resulting park is a light, atmospheric indoor sanctuary engineered to accommodate multiple wheel disciplines and all skill levels. By adapting the celebrated design language of Pier 15 to fit the local community's specific spatial constraints, the project delivered an indoor landmark of international allure that continues to anchor the regional street sports scene.
