ABOUT SKATEPARK

Saughton skatepark

Saughton Skatepark is a 2,100 m² concrete skatepark located within Saughton Park in Edinburgh, Scotland. Opened in May 2010 after years of campaigning by the Edinburgh Skatepark Project, it became Edinburgh's first major purpose-built skatepark and remains one of Scotland's largest concrete skateparks. The park was designed through a collaboration between Urban Design Futures, skatepark designer Dave Sowerby and local riders from the Edinburgh Skatepark Project, with input from Skateboard Scotland, and was constructed by Clachan Construction. The £800,000 facility combines an extensive street course with bowls, transitions, jumps, ramps and competition-standard features, including a pool-coping bowl and over-vert cradle. Designed to accommodate beginners through to experienced riders, Saughton Skatepark provides terrain for skateboards, BMX bikes and inline skates. Set within the historic Saughton Park, the skatepark remains a free, 24-hour public facility and an important destination for the Scottish wheeled-sports community.
