Santa Luzia Skatepark in Angra do Heroísmo, Terceira, is one of the older skate facilities in the Azores. The park was created after years of requests from local skaters, with the municipality stating that the idea had been officially pursued since at least 2010. The project was financed through the municipality's youth participatory budget, with an investment of around €40,000.
The skatepark was opened in 2018, with the municipality announcing in July that construction was nearing completion and that the inauguration was expected within days. It was subsequently remodelled in 2016 according to the municipality's current sports-facility listing — however, this creates a date inconsistency in the municipal sources, since the same council also describes the park as a project being constructed in 2018. The safest database entry is therefore 2018 for the current skatepark, with the possibility that an earlier facility existed on the site.
The concrete park includes three funboxes, a pyramid, rails, a two-ramp funbox, kicker, mini halfpipe and quarter halfpipe, giving it a mixture of street and transition terrain.
The project is particularly significant because it provided Angra's young skaters with their first proper dedicated facility after years of skating unofficial spots around the city. Today, Santa Luzia remains one of the key skateboarding facilities on Terceira Island.
