The Saint Jean de Maurienne DIY, famously known as the Versus DIY, is a masterpiece of concrete craftsmanship nestled in the French Alps. Spearheaded by Jérémy Durand and the dedicated YCM Crew, this project transformed a quiet valley into one of Europe's most creative skate destinations. It stands as a testament to the power of community-driven construction, blending high-level transition engineering with a raw, artistic soul that reflects the rugged spirit of the Savoie region.
The landscape is dominated by surreal, rideable sculptures, most notably the massive six-meter volcano shaped like a giant Opinel knife—a nod to the local heritage of the area. Riders can test their grit on the Porte de l'Enfer, a towering wall of vertical concrete, or find their flow through the snake-run sections and the aggressive curves of the Hirschgarten-style pool. Every inch of the park was hand-poured by volunteers who prioritized creative lines over traditional park geometry, resulting in a unique terrain that rewards exploration and speed.
More than just a place to skate, the Saint Jean de Maurienne DIY is a living monument to the "Skate and Create" philosophy. It is a space where local history and counter-culture collide, welcoming anyone who respects the craft and the community that built it. From its hand-stacked transitions to its vibrant murals, the park remains a constantly evolving work of art that captures the pure, unfiltered essence of DIY skateboarding.
