Prahran Skatepark, located in Prahran, Melbourne, was originally built in the 1970s, making it one of the first public skateparks in Melbourne. The park has a rich history, being a hub for local skaters and even hosting international icons like Tony Hawk. In 2023, the skatepark underwent a major redevelopment led by Convic, a global leader in skatepark design, in consultation with professional skaters and the local community.
The revamped park, which reopened in 2024, now features a street circuit, mini ramps, rails, banks, and a plaza-style setup, catering to skaters of all levels. A standout feature is the full-sized vert ramp, one of Melbourne's last remaining steel half-pipes, preserved from the original park. The redevelopment was part of a broader $1.167 million project by the City of Stonnington as part of the Princes Gardens Masterplan, which also included upgrades to the nearby basketball court.
The upgraded Prahran Skatepark has been described as an "MCG for skaters," offering a top-tier urban recreational facility for Melbourne's skating community. The park also includes lighting for evening sessions, landscaping, and shaded areas for spectators.
