ABOUT SKATEPARK

Ponte de Sor skatepark

Located within the Zona Desportiva de Ponte de Sor, this concrete skatepark is part of a larger recreational complex alongside the town's swimming pools, tennis courts, sports facilities and Jardim do Sor. It is one of the older purpose-built concrete skateparks in Portugal's Alentejo region.

The project dates back to 2004, when architect Nuno Matos Duarte designed the Mini-Golf and Skatepark as part of the redevelopment of the degraded Monte da Pinheira area. Construction followed in 2005, with the municipality's records documenting the installation of the skatepark's concrete elements. The contractor, Firmino Fernandes Bispo, Lda., proposed producing the skatepark elements directly on site rather than installing the originally specified prefabricated concrete pieces, a solution that was accepted by the municipality.

By November 2005, the Municipality of Ponte de Sor was already dealing with the final account for the completed Mini-Golf and Skatepark works, placing the opening of the facility firmly in the 2005 period.

The park has survived for more than two decades and remains part of Ponte de Sor's central sporting landscape. Its early-2000s concrete construction makes it an interesting example of the generation of Portuguese municipal skateparks that appeared well before the much larger wave of modern skatepark construction in the 2010s and 2020s.

The skatepark in Ponte de Sor is a bit of a dinosaur — old, rough concrete that could definitely use a renovation. It’s not the smoothest ride, and the design feels dated compared to newer parks. But here’s the thing: what this park might lack in perfect transitions, it makes up for in soul. The local community absolutely rocks. Thanks to people like Tino and Miguel, who put so much passion into keeping the scene alive, this spot has energy you can’t fake. They’ve been animating the local scene with events, creativity, and pure love for skateboarding — and that’s what makes this place special. I’ve been here many times, not because it’s the best park in Portugal, but because of the people and the vibe. Ponte de Sor proves that skateboarding isn’t just about perfect parks — it’s about community, passion, and making the most of what you have. If you’re in the area, don’t skip it. Come for the rough concrete, stay for the heart of the scene.

Espaço muito mal aproveitado, obstáculos miseráveis e sem nexo.

Não está nas melhores condições. Precisa de uma boa remodelação by wasteland.
