ABOUT SKATEPARK

Plymouth skatepark

Plymouth Skatepark is a community-built concrete park located at the southern end of Main Street in downtown Plymouth. Opened in 2011, the park was developed through extensive local fundraising and community support, giving Plymouth's skateboarders a dedicated place to ride close to the town centre.

The park combines a street section with ramps, rails and ledges with a distinctive kidney-shaped bowl. A series of graffiti walls, known locally as the “Free Walls”, sit alongside the skatepark and add another community-driven element to the space.

The project was spearheaded by local social worker and skateboard advocate Mike Currier, with more than $250,000 eventually raised through local businesses, organisations, donations and grants. The Skatepark Project was among the organisations that helped fund the development.

The park has become an important meeting point for the local skate community and Plymouth State University students, with riders of different ages sharing the space.
