North Shields Skatepark, also known as The Parks Skatepark, is a large all-concrete facility located off Howdon Road, next to The Parks Sports Centre in North Shields, Tyne and Wear. The park was designed and built by Gravity Skateparks and opened in 2010.
The layout combines street and transition terrain, beginning with a tiered plaza featuring blocks and rails before flowing into a quarterpipe with a pool-style return. The transition area includes two speed bowls, one featuring an over-vert hip and volcano, while another has an extension leading into a bowled edge and brick flat bank. A central pump bump connects the different sections and helps maintain speed around the park.
The upper level is dedicated more heavily to street skating, with hubbas, rails, ledges, a manual pad and a rainbow rail, while a long quarterpipe provides a return with an arch gap and extension. The park was later extended in 2018 with an additional bowl, further expanding its transition options.
Standard UK council skatepark. All ledges have angle iron, no coping. No p-rail. The Bowl is modelled on the Unit 23 bowl but a fraction of the size, so it’s super whippy. Not bad for a chill sesh.
