Mishagen 89, 2930 Brasschaat, Belgium.
Completed in April 2024, the new skatepark in Brasschaat stands as a testament to high-efficiency construction and tight project management. Located at Mishagen 89, this 500 m² custom concrete facility replaces an outdated spot with a modern, vibrant sports destination. Commissioned by the municipality, Nine Yards managed both the design and construction phases, delivering the entire project in an intensive five-week window while coordinating seamlessly with four other contractors active on-site.
To ensure the park directly mirrors the needs of its daily users, an intensive community participation process allowed local skaters to dictate their favorite obstacles, lines, and dimensions. Nine Yards integrated this feedback into a highly functional layout that is both challenging for advanced riders and approachable for beginners. Simultaneously, subcontractor Pumpfactory installed an adjacent asphalt pump track, completing a multi-discipline urban sports landscape that also features a dedicated calisthenics zone.
Sustainability and local identity were core pillars of the construction process. Nine Yards utilized recycled mixed granulate and aggregates from the old, demolished park to create the base mass for the new concrete structure, drastically reducing material waste. For the finishing touches, the elements were detailed using the official corporate identity colors of Brasschaat, giving the facility a distinct local aesthetic. The entire sports park holds full NEN certification, guaranteeing the highest international standards for public safety and durability.
