Completed in 2022, the Middelburg skatepark stands as a prime example of high-speed civic execution and collaborative project management. Following the removal of the city's previous park, local youth were left without a dedicated facility for several months. To resolve this urgent need and restore a vital space for the action sports community, the Municipality of Middelburg partnered with Nine Yards under a structured construction team agreement to guarantee an accelerated, seamless delivery.
Based on a dynamic layout by Burnside Constructions, Nine Yards took full responsibility for the turnkey realization of the project. Beyond the specialized on-site concrete fabrication, the scope of work included managing health and safety (H&S) protocols, comprehensive environmental oversight, and proactive communication with local neighborhood stakeholders.
Prioritizing the project to minimize any potential delays, Nine Yards successfully integrated the high-performance concrete park into a beautifully landscaped green environment. The result is a durable, safe, and future-proof urban sports destination that harmonizes seamlessly with its surroundings while giving the local skating community a place they can once again call home.
