ABOUT SKATEPARK

Marinha Grande miniramp

This miniramp is part of Marinha Grande's older generation of skate facilities. Local reporting from 2024 states that the city's skatepark was built around 2007, using prefabricated ramps, and that the facility has received little significant improvement since then.

The miniramp at Avenida Dr. José Henriques Vareda is one of several older ramp facilities in Marinha Grande. Local directories identify it specifically as a concrete miniramp, while other municipal-area listings record additional halfpipes on Rua Professor Nery Capucho and Rua de Infante Dom Henrique.

The city's main skatepark has suffered from deterioration, with local skaters describing broken and misaligned prefabricated modules and calling for a complete requalification. A 2024 petition noted that the existing skatepark had been constructed more than 15 years earlier, consistent with the approximately 2007 date reported by Jornal de Leiria.

This is therefore an interesting example of Portugal's early-2000s modular skatepark generation, when prefabricated ramps were far more common than the large concrete parks being built today.
