3 Allée Madame de Montespan, 77600 Bussy-Saint-Georges, France.
The La Vipère Skatepark, located in the town of Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne in the Alpes-Maritimes region of France, is a 550-square-meter (approximately 6,000-square-foot) boutique facility that exemplifies "organic" skatepark architecture. This project was designed by New Line Skateparks in collaboration with local landscape architects and was completed in 2017. The name "La Vipère" (The Viper) is derived from the park's slender, serpentine layout, which was meticulously engineered to weave through a grove of existing century-old olive trees, preserving the site's natural heritage and shade canopy.
The design is a pure "flow-track" concept, characterized by a continuous, pump-style ribbon of concrete that eliminates the need for a traditional fenced-in perimeter. The facility features a series of interconnected bank-to-bank transitions, rolling humps, and "pocket" quarter pipes that allow riders to maintain momentum indefinitely. Technical street elements, such as low-profile curbs and manual pads, are subtly integrated into the flow lines. The construction utilized high-quality, light-gray concrete that mimics the local limestone, ensuring the park feels like a natural geological feature rather than an industrial addition.
Because of its unique integration into a sensitive landscape, the project utilized "no-dig" construction techniques in specific areas to protect the root systems of the surrounding olive trees. This commitment to environmental stewardship has made La Vipère a case study for sustainable recreational design in Europe. The park functions as a quiet, rhythmic space that caters to skateboarders, longboarders, and surf-skaters looking for a "carving" experience that replicates the feel of ocean waves. Today, it is considered one of the most beautiful and atmospheric skate spots in Southern France, harmonizing high-performance flow with the tranquility of the Provençal countryside.
