The Kiwanis Skatepark, located within the expansive Kiwanis Park in London, Ontario, is a 12,000-square-foot concrete facility that stands as one of the region's most popular "all-wheel" destinations. This park was designed and built by New Line Skateparks in 2013 as part of a major community initiative to provide the East London area with a modern, durable alternative to aging wooden structures. The design was shaped by extensive input from local skateboarders and BMX riders, resulting in a layout that prioritizes high-speed flow and creative lines.
The park features a sophisticated "hybrid" design that balances a deep transition bowl with a technical street plaza. The bowl section is a standout feature, offering various depths, hips, and a dedicated "extension" wall that allows for advanced aerial maneuvers. This flows directly into a street-inspired landscape equipped with precision-engineered hubba ledges, flat rails, a "big-four" stair set, and a signature A-frame ledge. The layout is engineered to be "omni-directional," meaning riders can carve through the transitions and enter the street obstacles from multiple angles without losing momentum.
Constructed using high-strength, smooth-troweled concrete, the facility is built to withstand the heavy usage of a regional hub and the diverse weather conditions of Southern Ontario. Beyond the riding surface, the city integrated the skatepark into the broader Kiwanis Park ecosystem, which includes accessible trails, splash pads, and athletic fields. The site features ample spectator seating and wide concrete aprons, making it a comfortable environment for families and observers. Today, the Kiwanis Skatepark is celebrated for its versatility and build quality, remaining a centerpiece for local contests and a daily training ground for London’s thriving action sports community.
