The Kasmiersky Skatepark, located within Kasmiersky Park in Conroe, Texas, is a 10,000-square-foot facility that serves as a vital hub for the North Houston action sports community. This project was designed by New Line Skateparks and built by SPA Skateparks in 2011. The park was developed to replace an older, underutilized space with a high-performance concrete landscape that could withstand the heavy "all-wheel" usage typical of the region.
The design is a sophisticated "flow-plaza," known for its unique "L-shaped" configuration that maximizes the available space. It features a versatile transition section with varied-depth quarter pipes and a central pyramid hip, which flows directly into a technical street zone. The street terrain is outfitted with precision-engineered hubba ledges, flat rails, and a signature "kinked" ledge that mimics urban architecture. The layout is specifically designed to create "infinite lines," where riders can use the perimeter transitions as return walls to maintain speed while navigating back through the street obstacles.
As the build partner, SPA Skateparks applied their expertise in high-durability concrete finishes to ensure the park could handle the intense humidity and heat of Southeast Texas. The construction includes integrated steel edging on all grinding surfaces and smooth-troweled concrete that provides optimal grip for skateboards, BMX bikes, and scooters. Located under a canopy of mature pine trees, the park benefits from natural shade—a rare and highly valued feature for Texas skateparks. Today, Kasmiersky is praised for its "old-school meets new-school" feel, offering a balanced environment that challenges both transition carvers and technical street skaters.
