The skatepark in San Patricio del Chañar is located within the central sports and recreational complex of the city, at the intersection of Calle Complejo El Chocón and Avenida Ingeniero Gasparri (Q8306).
Commonly known as the Skatepark Rodrigo Barros Hurtado (named after its designer), this facility is legendary in the Argentine skating scene. Opened in 2006, it was one of the first professional-grade public skateparks in the country and the first in the Patagonia region. It is famous for its "media teta" (half-sphere) transition—a standout feature that has attracted world-class skaters over the years, including icons like Tom Penny and Milton Martínez.
The park features high-quality polished concrete with a deep transition area, various banks, and quarters that offer a distinct "old school" flow combined with technical street elements. In 2021, the park underwent a significant renovation, including a 3D-style aesthetic update and structural repairs, ensuring it remains a premier destination for skateboarding and BMX in the Alto Valle region. Because it is located within a public municipal complex, it is free to access and often serves as a central hub for regional competitions and youth sports clinics.
