Spanning an impressive 1,400 square meters, the Iso-Vilunen Skatepark in Tampere stands as one of the most remarkable and internationally comparable concrete facilities in Northern Europe. Built in 2014 by Concreteproof in collaboration with Beaver Concrete for the City of Tampere and Puutarha Center Oy, the landmark park was designed by Janne Saario to fulfill local riders' demands for massive, American-style transition terrain.
Uniquely elevated nearly 100 meters high atop a repurposed landfill site, the park features massive pool-style structures with transition curves reaching heights up to three meters, alongside rare features for Finland such as an elongated snake run and over-vert walls. Wrapping seamlessly around these deep transition bowls, the street elements are positioned exceptionally along the park’s perimeter, delivering an unmatched combination of heavy transition flow and technical street obstacles in a single expansive landscape.
