Porkers Ln, Haslingfield, Cambridge, United Kingdom
Haslingfield Skatepark is a compact concrete skatepark on Porkers Lane in the village of Haslingfield, just south of Cambridge. The current park replaced an older facility that had fallen into disrepair, with the existing concrete slab recycled and incorporated into the new construction. The new skatepark was designed and built by Betongpark for Haslingfield Parish Council. The project had a contract value of £110,000, with construction taking place between 2023 and 2024.
The layout has a strong emphasis on flow while retaining classic street obstacles. A central street pad features a distinctive red slappy kerb, inspired by the parking-lot kerbs found in American street skating. Kerb cuts allow riders to loop around the pad and maintain speed, creating continuous lines through the park.
Other features include a bespoke steel water hydrant, steel-faced ledge, flat-bar rail, half pump bump and a rolled-edge quarter pipe. The combination of flowing transitions and street obstacles makes the relatively compact park versatile and encourages riders to connect different features rather than simply skate individual obstacles.
The redevelopment was driven by the local community after the previous ramps became increasingly unsuitable. Haslingfield Parish Council explored several options before choosing a new concrete facility as a longer-term solution. The skatepark occupies an area of approximately 30 × 15 metres within Haslingfield Recreation Ground, which also contains tennis courts, football and cricket pitches, a children's playground and wildlife areas.
