Gillingham Skatepark, located at Riversmeet Leisure Centre in Gillingham, Dorset, was officially completed and opened in September 2019. The park was designed and built by Maverick Skateparks, a leading company specializing in concrete skatepark construction. The skatepark features a range of elements, including a quarter pipe, hubba, roll-in, jump box, mini ramp, and handrail. These features cater to skaters, BMX riders, and scooter users of all skill levels, offering a versatile and dynamic riding experience.
The design process involved active input from local skaters and the community, ensuring that the park met the needs of its users while also promoting inclusivity. The project was seen as a long-term investment in the community, with a focus on creating a safe and engaging environment for youth and encouraging participation in wheeled sports.
The skatepark was funded by a combination of local government resources and community-driven fundraising efforts. Its completion marked a significant upgrade from the older facilities in the area and has since become a popular spot for local and visiting riders.
