Douaneplein Skatepark in Mechelen is a distinctive skate spot at Transit M, with a history dating back to 2008, when the outdoor bowl was created by and for the local Mechelen skate community. In 2024, the site was expanded with a new street section, developed through several rounds of consultation with local skaters and led by Sport Alliance Academy vzw. The street section was built by Concrete Dreams, with Skatehouse among the local partners supporting the project.
The site now combines the original outdoor bowl with a newer street section offering ledges, rails and smaller obstacles, making it suitable for a wider range of skaters. SkateOn's separate Malinas project should not be confused with this Douaneplein park: SkateOn states that it designed and realised a concrete skatepark for the Malinas development, but the sources above identify the Douaneplein 2024 streetpark as a community-led project built by Concrete Dreams.
