ABOUT SKATEPARK

Chelsea skatpeark

Chelsea Skatepark is a large concrete skatepark in Bicentennial Park, combining open bowls, semi-bowls, hips, bumps, spines, rollovers, banks, rails and quarters into a flowing layout with sections suited to different skill levels. A distinctive 2.4-metre-high metal vert mini ramp sits alongside the concrete park, adding a dedicated option for transition and vert skating. The park is part of a wider youth precinct with a multi-sport court and other recreational facilities.

The current skatepark was created through a major upgrade costing around AUD $1.4 million. The design was a collaboration between Playce and Baseplate, with Independent Concrete Constructions responsible for construction. Baseplate's project archive confirms both the design and construction credits. The original skatepark at Bicentennial Park dates back to 1990, while the expanded modern facility was completed in the mid-2010s.

After skating, you can head to Chelsea Beach for a swim or coastal walk, or explore the cafés and shops along Chelsea's Nepean Highway and shopping precinct.
