The Brea Skatepark at Arovista Park is a premier example of thoughtful urban redevelopment, designed to serve the next generation of Southern California’s action sports community. Following years of passionate advocacy from local skaters and cyclists, the city undertook an extensive modernization of the original facility, which first opened in 2000.This project was designed by New Line Skateparks in partnership with Stantec and built by Three Peaks Corp, reopening to the public in September 2022. The renovation was highly anticipated and received a notable endorsement from skateboarding pioneer and legend Patti McGee during its grand opening celebrations.
The park’s layout carefully pays homage to the original footprint while drastically improving the flow and variety of the terrain. For transition enthusiasts, the traditional bowl features a challenging 9-foot deep end outfitted with diamond grind coping, providing a distinct sensory experience and superior durability for grinds and slides. The street section is designed with an authentic urban feel, featuring precision-engineered ledges, hubbas, a down rail, a manual pad, and a flat bar. These street-style elements are seamlessly integrated with a centralized table, transitioned hip, spine, and various quarterpipes, ensuring a well-balanced environment for all skill levels. By combining classic park features with modernized construction standards, the Brea Skatepark stands as a durable and high-energy landmark for the local community.
